Want to achieve success? Want it badly? Learn 5 reliable ways to achieve your success. These are straightforward, no-nonsense, and timeless ways that work.
May you achieve success in all of your endeavors!1. Define Success
What does success mean for you? Does it mean making a lot of money, having an important job or position in a company? Or does it mean being happy, or living life to its fullest? Success can mean many different things to many different people. Have you thought about how you personally define success, and how you’ll know if you’ve been successful? You can’t be successful if you don’t know what it means for you.
If you follow someone else’s definition of success, when you reach it, you won’t feel satisfied. Moreover, you’ll be dedicating your precious time and efforts to reaching someone else’s definition of what success is.
Create your definition of what success is.
2. Identify What Actions Steps to Take
There are many roads to the top of a mountain. Which path will you take? What skills, resources, education or training will you need to reach your success? For example, if you want to have a higher position in your company, what do you need to do to get that job? Do you need to learn new skills, demonstrate your proficiency, or play office politics?
Take out a piece of paper and start brainstorming what tactics you’re going to use to reach your success. If you find a life coach or someone who has already achieved what you’re looking to do, they can give you guidance to get on the fast track to reaching your goal.
3. Take Action
How bad do you feel when you’re procrastinating? When you’re putting off the tasks that will move you forward? Make a commitment. Set 2 hours aside, remove all distractions (turn off your phone, no Facebook allowed), and get to work.
What’s the first task you need to do? Or what’s the biggest priority or obstacle for you to tackle? If you want success badly enough, then use your deep desire for success to motivate you. What’s holding you back from taking action?
4. Break Your Goal Down into Smaller Steps
Does your big goal seem overwhelmingly unattainable? When you think of the entire goal at once, it can seem impossible. But if you break your big goal up into smaller steps, then it becomes more digestible, and more actionable.
For instance, if you want to start a business, that’s not a very actionable task. So break it down into smaller steps, like writing up your business plan (1 hour), going to a networking event (2 hours), and prospecting for new customers (2 hours). Now you’ve broken down your big goal into action steps that you can accomplish.
5. Be Persistent and Learn from Your Failures
Accept that you will have setbacks. It happens to everyone, especially to those who succeed the most! What defines you is not whether you succeed or fail in any of the smaller steps on the way to your big goal, but how you bounce back from failure. Does it take you one day to bounce back, or 3 weeks? One setback doesn’t define your journey, it’s just a detour on your way there.
Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Winners aren’t defined by winning, but by bouncing back repeatedly from their losses. Imagine Thomas Edison, having tried thousands of ways to create the light bulb… and failing repeatedly. Yet he was able to do it because he framed it like this: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Use your failures as lessons you can learn and grow from. When you’re feeling disappointed, discouraged, or let down, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” Zig Ziglar said, “If you learn from defeat, you haven’t really lost.” And Neil Patel put it this way, “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.”
